3: PERFECT NIGHTS

Katie Archibald and Matthew Richardson (both from Great Britain) each claimed 40 points in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. It was the third time the leader of the Women’s Endurance League achieved such a “perfect night” (scoring the maximum points up for grabs in a single round) while the sprinter did it for the first time.

200 BPM: MATTHEW RICHARDSON’S EXTRAORDINARY EFFORT

British rider Matthew Richardson showcased his determination by pushing his body to its limits in Round 1. Over the course of five races in just three hours, Richardson reached an impressive heart rate of 192 bpm in his sprint races, and 197 bpm in the first round of the Keirin. His maximum heart rate during the event was recorded at 195 bpm, though Richardson has declared a potential max heart rate of 200 bpm. Despite dominating in 2022, Richardson's success in 2024 marks the first time Harrie Lavreysen didn’t win a race in the competition after 15 rounds.

Dylan Bibic (Canada) reached a heart rate of 196 bpm while claiming victory in the Scratch, just over the maximum heart rate (195 bpm) he announced ahead of the 2024 UCI Track Champions League. His runner-up in the standings, France’s Oscar Nilsson-Julien showed glimpses of his unique abilities, hitting 214 bpm during the Scratch and 213 in the Elimination.

Apeldoorn (Netherlands) will host Rounds 2 and 3 of the UCI Track Champions League, becoming the 6th venue to join the competition alongside previous host cities: Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (Paris, France), London (United Kingdom), Berlin (Germany), Palma de Mallorca (Spain), and Panevėžys (Lithuania).

15: DUTCH RIDERS CONTINUE TO EXCEL

Dutch riders have been key to the success of the UCI Track Champions League since its inception. With 15 riders having participated over the years, including six in 2024, Dutch athletes have accounted for:

  • 2 overall victories
  • 22 race wins (37% of the total 60 races)
  • 51 race podiums
  • 1,852 total points

Only Team GB has fielded more riders in the series: 23, including 11 in 2024. Among the standout Dutch riders, Harrie Lavreysen, a history maker at the Olympic Games and the UCI World Championships, continues to cement his legacy as the best rider in the history of the UCI Track Champions League:

  • 2 overall victories (2021 and 2023), 2nd place in 2022. Only Katie Archibald (Great Britain) is up to this record.
  • 553 total points, the highest tally for any rider in the series
  • 18.4 points per race, a ratio of 92.2% of the points available
