Canada’s public broadcaster will offer coverage during the second season of the UCI’s innovative track cycling series across CBC Sports digital platforms.
The UCI Track Champions League has confirmed that Canada’s public broadcaster CBC will stream its 2022 season across CBC Sports digital platforms.
CBC Sports joins a host of international broadcast partners that are being announced before the second UCI Track Champions League campaign commences in Mallorca on Saturday 12 November. The full CBC Sports streaming schedule will be available here.
CBC Sports will offer live digital coverage of each round via the free CBC Gem streaming service, cbcsports.ca, and the CBC Sports app for iOS and Android devices. The agreement was reached with Discovery Sports Events, who are global promoters of the UCI Track Champions League, and part of Warner Bros. Discovery.
Last season the UCI Track Champions League reached 149 million viewers in 206 countries, with over 62 hours of programming, fulfilling its ambition of putting track cycling on the global stage and attracting a new, international audience.
Four Canadian riders – Hugo Barrette, Maggie Coles-Lyster, Lauriane Genest and Olympic gold medallist Kelsey Mitchell – took part in the first edition in 2021. Coles-Lyster and Mitchell are both returning this time around and will be joined by newly crowned UCI World Scratch Champion Dylan Bibic, Mathias Guillemette and Sarah Van Dam.
François Ribeiro, Head of Discovery Sports Events said: “It’s a pleasure to welcome CBC Sports on board as the latest broadcast partner of the UCI Track Champions League. Canada has produced some of the world’s best track cycling talents in recent years and we’re delighted that Canadian fans will be able to watch them in action over the five-round series, courtesy of CBC.”
The 2022 UCI Track Champions League will once again see the world’s best riders battling it out across five rounds in four countries.
